Meet Dr. Ivor Dent
Dr. Ivor Dent was a teacher and assistant principal in Edmonton before entering civic politics. He was an alderman for five years, then served as mayor of Edmonton from 1968 to 1974. He is best known for bringing both the LRT and Commonwealth Games to Edmonton.
Ivor Dent was both a learner and a leader, obtaining not only a B. Ed. but M. Ed. and Ed. D. as well. He retired from the field of education as principal of Rundle School in 1980. He was made a member of the Order of Canada in 1984.
